1 Day Kisite National Park and Wasini Island Safari

Safari Joe for the journey of a lifetime

This is a full day trip to the Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park which is found off the Kenyan Coast about 50km south of Diani, near the Tanzania border. This breathtaking marine park offers some of the best snorkelling and diving in the world.

Arrival: You will be picked up from your accommodation at around 7.15 am and driven to Shimoni, a distance of 50kms, arriving at around 8.30 am. Upon arrival at Shimoni Jetty you will board an “Arabic Dhow and sail to Kisite Marine park where you can snorkel and swim.

Refreshments: Tea, coffee and biscuits are offered on the dhow whilst you are being fully briefed. Refreshments will be provided including fresh fruit and home baked herb bread.

Equipment: There are buoyancy jackets, twin valve snorkels with comfit mouthpieces, a wide range of silicone masks to fit every face and numerous different sizes and brands of fins. The crew will individually assess you on your experience, and personally fit you with suitable equipment. PRESCRIPTION MASKS (-3 to -9) are also available.

Non Swimmers: Are guided on a 1:1 basis. It is a wonderful learning experience for beginners and non swimmers. Hold on to the life ring and one of the crew will happily pull you around. Within the Wasini Channel and out on the Indian Ocean, dolphins are also often sighted. Some guests have even been lucky enough to swim with the dolphins.

Snorkelling: Is done off the fringing reef of a large rocky islet and a wonderful sand bar, which appears out of the blue ocean at low tide. Kisite is the best and most accessible Marine Park in Kenya which also has a fantastic variety of fishes and coral. Snorkelers have also been lucky enough to see whales and whale sharks.

Fun Dive: A short dive (around 30 minutes), suitable for un-experienced divers and even for those who have never dived before. After a short briefing, you go under water with the instructor. The instructor holds your hand during the dive. This is one of the best diving sites in East Africa and a very safe place, free of sharks.

Scuba Dive: For qualified divers, who have license. You will dive with a dive master or instructor, who will fit the best diving for you. There are a number of diving sites in the Marine Park. Scuba diving and fun-diving guests often meet turtles underwater, too.

Swahili Lunch: After snorkelling you head back to Wasini Island for a late lunch. This will truly be a meal to remember served by smiling Swahili ladies, with white wine and beer. After lunch you have time to relax over tea, coffee and patisseries!
